The Center for Disease Control is saying they believe a quarter of all Americans have a mental illness and about half of all Americans will develop at least one mental illness at some point in their lives. Among these mental disorders are things like anxiety or mood disorders and anything that affects “sustained abnormal alterations in thinking, mood, or behavior associated with distress and impaired functioning.” The CDC also says mental illness can be associated with “cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, epilepsy and cancer”—and that such chronic diseases are on the rise …
