Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s two college friends, who police say helped cover up evidence following the Boston Marathon bombing, have pleaded not guilty. Dias Kadyrbayev faces up to 25 years in prison or deportation back to Kazakhstan after being charged with obstruction of justice, and Robel Phillipos could go to prison for 16 years if he’s convicted of lying to investigators. Lawyers for both of the students claim they had nothing to do with the attack or the destruction of evidence. Kadyrbayev’s attorney says that his client did not know what Tsarnaev had done. Prosecutors claim that three days after the bombing, as the police investigation began to close in the on suspects, the defendants received a text message from Tsarnaev saying, “Go to my room and take what’s there.” Kadyrbayev and one another individual are accused of taking evidence, including Tsarnaev’s laptop, from the room, and investigators say that Phillipos then lied to police about the cover up …
