Taco Bell Is Being Sued For Underfilling Menu Items

One Taco Bell customer has some major beef with the Mexican fast food chain.

New York resident Frank Siragusa has filed a class-action lawsuit against Taco Bell, accusing the company of false advertising, claiming that a Mexican Pizza he purchased contained only half of the beans and beef as advertised both online and in-store.

However, this lawsuit isn’t limited to the Mexican Pizza alone. Siragusa’s lawyers, James Kelly and Anthony Russo, who have previously taken on fast food giants for similar allegations, argue that other fan-favorite menu items like the Crunchwrap Supreme, Grande Crunchwrap and Veggie Mexican Pizza have also been overstated in their filling amounts by “at least double the amount.”

To prove their case, Siragusa’s legal team submitted side-by-side photos of the advertised products alongside the photos of what customers allegedly received – and the images are pretty clear. These practices, they argue, are “unfair and deceptive,” and have become even more concerning in the face of rising food prices that have hit lower-income consumers especially hard.

Photo evidence submitted with the class-action lawsuit.

In light of these accusations, Siragusa is seeking a substantial $5 million in damages for customers who fell victim to Taco Bell’s alleged false advertising practices.

Interestingly, this class-action suit emerges right after Taco Bell wrapped up its legal battle against Taco John’s for the trademark phrase “Taco Tuesday.” In that particular case, the taco chain successfully secured the phrase to be available for all, adding a twist to the ongoing saga of fast-food industry legal disputes.

Taco Bell has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
