Marie Kondo has said she’s given up on keeping her own house perfectly tidy, and people everywhere are feeling vindicated.
Kondo, the Japanese cleaning consultant and author of the best–selling book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing, is no stranger to sparking joy in people‘s homes. But now a mother of three, Kondo has said that she has realized what is important to her is enjoying time with her family.
Kondo recently shared that she had a reality check that her growing family and business has caused her to rethink her infamous KonMari method. “Tidying up means dealing with all the ‘things’ in your life,” Kondo writes in her new book. “So, what do you really want to put in order?”
Parents, in particular, could relate to this sentiment and took to Twitter to express their appreciation.
This was both refreshing and validating to read. I have 3 kids and have been trying out the KonMari method every 3 months but it's just not feasible. Sure, cleaning out stuff we don't need goes A LONG way but keeping my house like an IKEA catalogue? Physically impossible with 3.

The fact that Marie Kondo, leader of millennials who were taught (by her) to only keep things that spark joy, has given up on tidying up her house now that she has 3 kids, is really sending me 🤣 ☠️

Instead of making fun of Marie Kondo for having a less-than-tidy home now with three kids, you could see her vulnerability as another affirmation that life be life-ing sometimes and we don't stay the same in thoughts or rhythm.

Marie Kondo realizing that she is/should be allowed to not live in a pristine and organized looking household as a woman raising 3 kids is the plot twist i didn't know i needed and that has sparked A LOT of joy in me✨
