According to the article “Why Pastors Are Talking About Scandal”, the ABC drama (its season finale airs tonight) is all the rage among evangelical pastors. The show is essentially a primetime soap opera—plots revolve around affairs, politics, religion, murder and all of the other makings of a trashy, scandalous hour of TV. But, according to The Atlantic, “Scandal is no more salacious than the accounts of Old and New Testament biblical figures, from King David and his philandering-but-wise son, King Solomon, to Apostle Paul, pre-conversion.” Evidently, pastors around the country have even started Scandal-inspired sermon series.
