American skier Gus Kenworthy has made some new friends while in Sochi to compete at the Winter Olympics—stray puppies. The dogs that roam streets and Olympic venues have been a source of controversy during the games after Russian officials ordered that the strays be killed so they don’t “bother” Olympic fans. But Kenworthy has other plans. He’s been visiting a group of puppies he’s befriended, even arranging vaccinations and kennels for the dogs. He’s also going to try to bring them home with him after the games are over.
