Former prison chaplain Kenneth DeWitt—who resigned from McPherson Women’s Unit in Newport, Arkansas, in September 2014—has been charged with 50 counts of sexual assault. Arkansas officials say that DeWitt resigned a little over a year ago after admitting he had sex relations with a female chaplain at the prison and and a former inmate. Two more inmates accused him of assault just months later. Now, the Department of Justice is currently looking into misconduct by several members of the McPherson Unit’s staff, too.
