President Trump has some ambitious plans for the American space program.
Today, he signed the “Space Policy Directive 1” which tells NASA to send astronauts to the surface of the moon and then Mars.
In a statement, he said:
[lborder]The directive I am signing today will refocus America’s space program on human exploration and discovery … This time we will not only plant our flag and leave our footprint. We will establish a foundation for an eventual mission to Mars and, perhaps, someday, to many worlds beyond.
[/lborder]Considering the last time a person walked on the moon it was 1972, it’s a pretty significant announcement.
