Here’s Our First Look at Ava DuVernay’s ‘Wrinkle in Time’ Movie

Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle L’Engle’s beloved Wrinkle In Time is due out March of next year, and Entertainment Weekly is giving us our first look at just what she’s brought to the screen. If you read the book in high school—as you most likely did—you’ll probably be pretty thrilled with what you see. If you didn’t, you should read it, and then come back and check these pictures out, because they’ll make a lot more sense with context.

First of all, here’s DuVernay directing Storm Rider, who plays our hero, Meg Murry.

We’ve also got a picture of Meg looking lost with Avatar‘s Pandora with Calvin O’Keefe (Levi Miller).

Chris Pine will be playing the Murry family patriarch Mr. Murry, and here he seems to be looking for a way out of the club.

And here he is looking at some water and probably thinking about Wonder Woman.

But the biggest reveal is of the three women playing the angelic beings who help Meg rescue her father when he goes missing after one his science experiments goes belly up. Reese Witherspoon will be playing Mrs. Whatsit, Mindy Kahling will play Mrs. Who, and some lady named Oprah is Mrs. Which.

So it all looks about as good as you’d expect from an adaptation of a terrific novel being made by a terrific director. There is sure to be a lot more in the near future (and a trailer anytime now).
