During a recent panel, “The Big Television Debate” with Net-A-Porter featuring Ellen Pompeo, Gina Rodriguez, Emma Roberts and Gabrielle Union, Ellen Pompeo shut the house down and shocked everyone. Pompeo, known for her reputable role in Grey’s Anatomy, is one of the highest-paid women on TV, and she isn’t afraid to use her voice to speak up for equal rights.

“This day has been incredible,” she began. “There’s a ton of women in the room. But I don’t see enough color. And I didn’t see enough color when I walked in the room today. I think it’s up to all productions to make sure that your crew looks like the world that we see.”
The room fell silent before she added: “As caucasian people, it’s our job.”
After fifteen seasons, Grey’s maintains its place as one of the most successful TV shows today. Back in 2017, Pompeo signed a deal for three more seasons of the show—bringing in around $20 million per year. She’s now a producer on the show as well as the lead actress.
Pompeo has power, and she’s not afraid to use it.
The four women discuss flaws in the industry along with how they can utilize their power to empower each other. You can watch the full panel from Net-A-Porter below:
