
When we last checked in with Sinead O’Connor, she was dishing out life advice to Miley Cyrus. If anyone ever needed life advice, it’s Miley, but the advice felt particularly resonant coming from O’Connor, who’s had such a lengthy, public and ultimately triumphant struggle with both mental health (she says doctors recently told her she is not bipolar, despite an earlier diagnosis to the contrary) and public opinion (her ripping a picture of Pope John Paul II on SNL is the stuff of legend). But now, O’Connor—who has been very vocal about her Christian beliefs—is back with a new album and a new song that seems to be about the church she grew up in, the church she believes should exist and her own quest for spiritual truth.
