Loki and Scarlet Witch Might See Their Own Miniseries on Disney’s Streaming Service

There’s no official word yet from Marvel or Disney, but Variety reports that to bolster their upcoming streaming service, Disney is developing limited series starring some of the minor characters of the MCU, including Loki and Scarlet Witch. Other characters without their own movies could see their own miniseries, too. (h/t Variety)

Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen, who play Loki and Scarlet Witch in the movies, are expected to reprise their star-making roles for six to eight episodes. The series will be produced by Marvel Studios and carry budgets similar to the blockbuster films. In other words, you’re going to see a similar level of quality here, with all the same talent, on a whole new platform.

Of course, this announcement does raise some key questions regarding Avengers: Infinity War (spoilers to follow!). We all saw Loki and Scarlet Witch fall at the hands of Thanos, albeit in different ways, so if these prove to be sequel series, we might know a thing or two about next year’s Avengers 4. Of course, these might also be prequel series of sorts, following Scarlet Witch with her brother in Eastern Europe, maybe? Or tracking Loki as he pulls some tricks around Asgard? We’d be psyched for those.

And if you’re expecting to see some of your favorite Avengers appear in these shows, Disney says pump the brakes on those hopes. Anyone who has seen their own movie within the MCU won’t appear on the TV shows. This will be a way to prop up second-tier characters.

… That does still leave room for a Hulk show, though.
