But Wait, There’s More: ‘Cocaine Shark’ Is Coming to Theaters This Summer

What if the shark from Jaws was on a lot of drugs? That’s basically the premise for the totally real new movie, Cocaine Shark.

Following the surprising success of Cocaine Bear, B-movie production company Wide Eye Releasing has confirmed the release of Cocaine Shark and today dropped the official poster and trailer. And yes, they’re as ridiculous as you’d imagine.

The trailer sets the scene for Cocaine Shark, which follows a crime lord who creates a highly addictive drug using caged sharks.

“A mafia drug lord has unleashed a new, highly addictive stimulant on the streets called HT25, derived from sharks held captive in a secret lab, and which causes monstrous side effects. After an explosion and leak at the lab, an army of mutated, bloodthirsty sharks and other creatures are set loose on the world,” the synopsis reads.

Like its predecessor, Cocaine Shark is loosely inspired by true events. In February, New Zealand authorities announced that over three tons of cocaine had been intercepted in the Pacific Ocean.

Elizabeth Banks, who directed Cocaine Bear, has expressed interest in the new project.

“I’ve seen that. If there’s a great story, then sure,” Banks said. “Jaws with cocaine? I don’t see how that loses.”

Cocaine Shark will be released in theaters July 7.
