The House of Mouse has created its first ever animated plus-size protagonist for a short film about body dysmorphia.
Reflect tells the story of Bianca, a young, plus-size ballet dancer, who “battles her own reflection, overcoming doubt and fear by channeling her inner strength, grace and power.”
Fans have been thrilled to see Disney create a powerful character for future generations.
Eating disorders have been on the rise over the last few years, and many Gen Zers struggling with negative beliefs about their bodies. While there are numerous ways body dysmorphia can and should be addressed, positive messages from the media about body image is a major step in the right direction.
Reflect is available to watch on Disney+.
