Forget everything you thought you know about technology, Satanists, conspiracy theories and angels. Alright, now you’re ready to watch the trailer for The Devil Conspiracy.
The Devil Conspiracy is an, uh, let’s say “ambitious attempt” to combine horror, mystery, faith and science fiction. It’s a lot to unpack, but we’ll do our best.
As seen in the trailer, The Devil Conspiracy centers on the conflict between Archangel Michael and Lucifer. According to their version of events — key emphasis being their version — Michael seals Lucifer in hell for all eternity after an epic battle; nevertheless, a cult of Satanists are hell–bent (no pun intended) on bringing Satan to Earth. But, of course, it’s not just Satan that’s the enemy here.
Enter an anonymous biotech corporation who has the technology to clone history‘s greatest minds and personalities with only a trace of their DNA. When the cult discovers that a priest is in possession of the sacred Shroud of Turin, which *checks notes* contains the DNA of Jesus, they attempt to steal it. As the cabal carry out their plan by murdering the priest and kidnapping his female colleague, the priest summons (?) Archangel Michael and offers his body to confront the evil that will soon devastate the world.
It’s tempting to categorize this as a Christian apocalyptic film, except there’s nothing biblical about this at all. But it doesn’t get much more “end of the world as we know it” vibes as this.
The Devil Conspiracy releases in actual theaters this Friday, Jan. 13.
