Five Albums Dropping This Month That Are Sure to Make Your Playlist

August may arguably belong to Taylor Swift, but there are plenty of other artists dropping some exciting new music this month. Whether you’re into pop, worship, hip-hop or something alternative, here’s five albums dropping this month that are guaranteed to make August better.

The Band CAMINO – The Dark (August 11)

Nashville pop-rock trio The Band CAMINO will release their second studio album, The Dark, later this month. The album is said to be a departure from the band’s previous work, with a darker and more introspective tone. However, it is still expected to feature the band’s signature infectious pop sound. Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from The Band CAMINO since the release of their debut album in 2021, and the band is ready to deliver later this month.

Birdy – Portraits (August 18)

British singer-songwriter Birdy is gearing up to release her upcoming album, Portraits, and it is a departure from her previous work in all the best ways. The album is a collection of 11 songs that explore the themes of love, loss and self-discovery, but it is also a sonic departure for Birdy, with a more pop-oriented sound. It’s a testament to her growth as an artist. Her vocals are as stunning as ever on Portraits, and her songwriting is more mature and complex than ever before. The album features a mix of original songs and covers, and Birdy’s unique take on these familiar tunes is sure to please fans of both her old and new material.

Hozier – Unreal Unearth (August 18)

Irish singer-songwriter Hozier highly anticipated studio album, Unreal Unearth, is almost here and we can’t wait. Hozier shared this album is a dark and eclectic masterpiece that draws inspiration from Dante’s Inferno. The album will feature a mix of old-school rock, ’90s grunge and electronica. The album’s lead single, “Eat Your Young,” is a powerful anthem about the dangers of greed and power and gives fans a glimpse of an exciting album to add to their music rotation.

Cody Carnes – Firm Foundation (August 25)

Worship artist Cody Carnes upcoming album, Firm Foundation, was captured last summer during a two-night live worship event at Carnes’ church home base, The Belonging Co., in Nashville. His first single from the new project, “Bless God,” gives us a glimpse of the powerful worship album to come.

“God is worthy of praise in every season,” Carnes said. “Sometimes it’s easy when things are going well, and sometimes it’s really hard when things aren’t going the way you would like, and in those times, like David in the Psalms, I have to command my soul to praise the Lord. I’ve learned that we’re meant to pass through the hard seasons, we’re not meant to set up camp there. And praise helps us pass through.”

Derek Minor – Nobody’s Perfect (August 25)

After a long, long wait, Christian hip-hop artist Derek Minor will release his new album, Nobody’s Perfect this month. Minor assures us the wait was worth it, as he’s spent months perfect his project to be his most unique album to date. Over the summer, a few special fans were able to hear a sneak peek of the album, and all were blown away by Minor. With insightful lyrics and infectious beats, Nobody’s Perfect is gearing up to be one of our favorite albums of the year.
