Alexander O’Connor, the British singer known as Rex Orange County, has been charged with six counts of sexual assault.
The Sun reports that O’Connor appeared in court to plead not guilty to all six charges, and he was released on bail. O’Connor has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman twice in the West End, earlier this summer. He then allegedly assaulted her again in a taxi and then four times in his Notting Hill home.
“Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court,” in a statement to Variety, Rex Orange County’s representation said. “He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings.”
Rex Orange County achieved fame in his work with Tyler, the Creator, featuring on a couple of Flower Boy songs. He also had a few of his own hits, with songs like “Best Friend” and “Loving Is Easy.” His most recent mixtape, Who Cares?, dropped last March.
