Sufjan Stevens is so back.
Three years after his last album, The Ascension, Stevens has announced his next project Javelin will drop October 6. And he’s even given fans a glimpse of what’s to come with the album’s first single, “So You Are Tired.”
According to Rolling Stone, Javelin is Stevens’ first record “in singer-songwriter mode” since 2015’s Carrie & Lowell. Suffice to say there’s some high expectations surrounding this project, but the first single gives us immense hope that Stevens will pull it off.
“So You Are Tired” follows the collapse of a relationship, wherein one partner finds themselves weary of the struggle to salvage what’s been lost. It’s a deeply intimate and emotional story, and something we hope to hear more about on Stevens’ new project.
Javelin is set to drop October 6.
