Check in on the Swiftie in your life.
Taylor Swift fans are having a rough few days as they’re in the trenches fighting for a ticket to the singer’s upcoming Eras Tour. Yesterday, tickets for the presale went live and it was an absolute mess. The Ticketmaster website crashed numerous times, people’s Verified Fan presale codes weren’t working, users shared they spent upwards of six hours in online queues getting tickets, and scalpers were quickly on the move reselling tickets for thousands of dollars. To borrow words from Swift herself, it was “The Great War.”
You wouldn’t think it’d be a total bloodbath to see Swift considering there’s 52 shows during the U.S. leg of the tour, and each stadium holds roughly 80,000 people. That means there’s an estimated 4 million tickets to go around, which means there’s roughly 4 million Swifties who have a bone to pick with Ticketmaster.
Fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations with the Ticketmaster, and they did not hold back.

Swifties aren’t the only ones who are concerned about Ticketmaster. Congress is also taking notice.
Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and David N. Cilline took to Twitter advocating for action to be taken.
Daily reminder that Ticketmaster is a monopoly, it’s merger with LiveNation should never have been approved, and they need to be reigned in.
Break them up.

.@Ticketmaster's excessive wait times and fees are completely unacceptable, as seen with today's @taylorswift13 tickets, and are a symptom of a larger problem.
It’s no secret that Live Nation-Ticketmaster is an unchecked monopoly.
