Nearly a decade after The Civil Wars disbanded, Joy Williams and Paul White have reunited, kind of, thanks to Taylor Swift.
Swift is about to embark on her new tour, and to kick things off she announced she would drop four unreleased songs tonight at midnight, including “Safe and Sound (Taylor’s Version)” featuring Williams and White.
“Safe and Sound” was originally featured on The Hunger Games soundtrack, and won a Grammy for Best Song Written For Visual Media in 2013. One year later, Williams and White disbanded The Civil Wars and pursued careers as solo artists.
While neither has announced any plans to reunite The Civil Wars, we’re taking this as a fully guaranteed sign that it is indeed absolutely happening. (Even if not, we’re just grateful to get a snippet of Williams and White’s voices together again.)
