According to a new report from the Women’s Media Center, gender inequality in Hollywood and in the journalism industry still is a major issue. Among their findings, was the fact that Angelina Jolie—the highest paid female movie star—makes the same as two of Hollywood’s lower paid male stars (Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson at $33 million. By comparison, Robert Downey Jr. makes $75 million). The report found that newsroom gender diversity is pretty much the same as it was in 1999, with women making up less then 40% of the workforce. Out of the top 183 recognized sports radio shows, only two were hosted by women. They observed that during a two-month sample period last year, women were quoted in just 19% of news articles. And, in 2012 women had the least number speaking roles in top Hollywood movies in five years.
