As the U.S. begins to set its sights on a second lockdown to flatten another COVID-19 curve, we’re all anxious to see what morsels of nostalgia the pop culture overlords will provide for us this time. And, good news, take a moment, just sit right there, we’ve got our first trailer for a doozy. HBO Max rounded the original cast of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air up for a trip down memory lane and it looks like a blast.
Will Smith and the gang return to the set of the LA mansion that a lot of us grew up with to reminisce about the glory days of one of the most beloved and surprisingly subversive sitcoms of the era. Janet Hubert, the original Aunt Viv, will even be there.
One face that will be sadly missing: James Avery, who played Smith’s long-suffering father figure Uncle Phil. Avery passed in 2013 and the reunion special will include a tribute to his work.
This isn’t the only new Fresh Prince content in the works. Smith is working on a more grounded, dramatic reboot of the series inspired by a viral fan-made trailer that’s apparently headed to Peacock in the near future.
The reunion special will drop on HBO Max on November 19.
