Photos of the body of a Syrian toddler who drowned alongside his mother and five-year-old brother have gone viral, as the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe continues to grow. Artists from around the world have begun creating their own tributes to 3-year-old Aylan Kurdi, who is one of thousands of Syrian refugees who have died attempting to escape violence from the Syrian civil war and ISIS.
You can see the photos here, but warning: They are graphic. The boys’ father told the AP, “My kids were the most beautiful children in the world, wonderful. They wake me up every morning to play with them.” Fighting in Syria has displaced millions in the country, and there are currently tens of thousands attempting to escape to Europe.
