Miriam Carey: The Woman Killed at the U.S. Capitol

Details are slowly emerging about Miriam Carey, the 34-year-old Connecticut dental hygienist who led police on a wild chase around Washington D.C. before being shot to death near Capitol Hill, but nothing whatsoever resembling a history of violence or even a motive has emerged. Friends and family are describing her as “happy,” “non-political” and someone who had “a wonderful life.” She had some bouts with depression (possibly post-partum), but her boss, Dr. Steven Oken, told ABC News that “I would never in a million years believe that she would do something like this. It’s the furthest thing from anything I would think she would do, especially with her child in the car. I am floored that it would be her.” That child in the car remains a mystery as well, and it remains unclear whether she was Carey’s daughter or not.
