TMI: Rep. Nancy Mace Talked About Having Sex With Her Fiancé at a Prayer Breakfast

In a recent event hosted by GOP presidential hopeful and South Carolina senator Tim Scott, Rep. Nancy Mace, a fellow conservative from the state, found herself in an awkward situation during the annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast.

The gathering, attended by faith leaders and political figures such as Rep. Russell Fry and Sen. Lindsey Graham, took an unexpected turn when Mace decided to share some personal details about her relationship with her fiancé, Patrick Bryant.

“When I woke up this morning at seven, I was getting picked up at 7:45,” she said. “Patrick, my fiancé, tried to pull me by my waist over this morning in bed and I was like, ‘No, baby, we don’t got time for that this morning. I got to get to the prayer breakfast and I got to be on time.’ A little TMI.”

Most conservative Christian candidates don’t make comments about having sex outside of marriage, so the room seemed conflicted on how to respond.

“I know he can wait,” she said to tepid laughter. “He’s got, we got, I’ll see him later tonight.”

She later joked about the situation on Twitter, saying, “I go to church because I’m a sinner not a saint!”
