Dozens of Liberty Students and several staff members are working with a production house called ReelWorks Studios to make a movie—that could cost up to $2 million—called The Trump Prophecy. The studio also made movie based on the book Four Blood Moons which was written by the controversial megachurch John Hagee.
Based on a book by Mark Taylor, the movie tells the story of a firefighter who says God told him that Donald Trump would become president, and it was all part of God’s plan for America.
Taylor told CBN News: “The enemy’s timeline has been denied by the Most-High God and it’s through Donald Trump a lot of this is being denied right now. And what God is saying right now is, ‘No, it’s not time right now’ because there are many things that God wants to accomplish on the Earth right now.”
Despite those comments, the school claims the movie isn’t political: “I don’t think this has anything to do with any agenda related to supporting or not supporting Trump, from my perspective, the head of the university’s Cinematic Arts department told FaithWire.
Also, the school’s president, Jerry Falwell Jr., has personally endorsed then-candidate Trump.
Liberty provided a statement to Vox that said, “Liberty University’s School of Cinematic Arts is collaborating with a prominent filmmaker on a movie based on the book The Trump Prophecies. While the university sees this as an excellent opportunity for film students to gain real world experience, students’ participation in this film is voluntary. No student is being forced to work on this film. Those who choose not to have already been told they can work on other projects with no impact to their grades or to their progress toward graduation.”
The school’s plan is for the movie to show in about 1,200 theaters.
