David Letterman Is Going to Have His Own Netflix Series

BY RELEVANT CULTURE August 08, 2017

David Letterman, one of the best to ever do it, isn’t done yet. The 70-year-old still feels he has some screen-time energy left in him, and he’s taking it to Netflix, where he’ll host long-form interviews along with “reports from the field.” Netflix has already ordered six hourlong episodes of the series, so they must be feeling confident about it. Wouldn’t you, if Letterman wanted to host a show on your streaming service?

It’s been two years since Letterman handed the reins over to Stephen Colbert, who overcame a rocky start to beat his chief competition Jimmy Fallon in ratings on a regular basis. “I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix,” Letterman said in a statement. “Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first.

In his time away from the spotlight, Letterman’s grown a hippy beard and mostly avoided press, but hey, don’t pretend you didn’t miss him.
