Every year, Vulture uses a weirdly complex algorithym (including box office numbers, likability and Oscar wins) to determine who Hollywood’s biggest stars are. It’s surprising that so much effort goes into determining this stuff but, then again, the stars we value might say more about us as a culture than we care to admit. For example, of the top 100 leading stars, only five are black (and Zoe Saldana is the sole black woman) and there are almost no other minorities represented at all. Robert Downey Jr., Leonardo Dicaprio and Jennifer Lawrence top the list—which seems appropriate enough—and almost all of our beloved favorites are somewhere on there.
