Orson Scott Card—famous for his Ender’s Game series and, more recently, several successful runs on superhero comic series—has had his work removed from a compendium of Superman stories for his support of traditional marriage.
Card is a member of the Mormon church and a board member of the National Organization of Marriage, something that has stirred an online petition requesting that Card be removed from the Superman project. DC Comics stood their ground, but the series’ artist, Chris Sprouse, took the uproar as his sign to quit, saying that “the media surrounding this story reached the point where it took away from the actual work, and that’s something I wasn’t comfortable with.” DC still plans to move forward with the series, assuming they find a willing artist …
