Reality TV has hit rock bottom. Really. In A&E’s horrifying new show Fear: Buried Alive people will (as the title clearly indicates) be buried alive. Of course, it’s not being sold as a chance to torture our fellow humans (who, for the record, clearly have legit fears) but rather a “psychological” experiment, where participants will “endure a series of escalating horrors designed to test the strength of their psyches.” The press release goes on to justify this entertainment malarkey by noting “Studies show that when we willingly push ourselves outside of our comfort zone and face our fears, we come out feeling empowered and triumphant.” And, if they create some great footage of crying and freaking out, all the better, right? We think no. Just no.
