TMZ has reported and the AP has confirmed that pop superstar Prince died of unknown causes this morning after battling the flu for several weeks. He was 57.
Prince, whose full name was Prince Rogers Nelson quickly gained popularity in 1982 after his breakthrough album “1999.” He went on to churn out some of the greatest hits of our generation and racked up seven Grammys in the process. He sold more than 100 million records during his career and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for Purple Rain in 1985.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
