Carrie Fisher, the actress famous for portraying Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise has died. This weekend, she suffered a heart attack aboard an international flight, and has been in the hospital ever since.
In a statement to People, her spokesperson said,
It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.
Fisher was also a noted writer, penning several books, a one-woman play and was a popular script doctor in Hollywood.
She was 60 years old.
