The only thing better than a good movie is a secret good movie, and we may have just such a case on our hands. Cannes Film Festival is preparing to roll out its lineup and while plenty of interesting directors are sure to be debuting new projects (Dave Cronenberg? Ari Aster?) the plumb piece of gossip involves David Lynch. The auteur surrealist behind Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive and Straight Story might (key word: might) be showing at Cannes with a brand new movie, and that movie might (again: might) involve Laura Dern in some capacity.
That’s really all we know at this point, but what else do you want? What else could you possibly ask for than news that one of our greatest filmmakers might have another movie in the can with one of our greatest actors? Well, you could ask for confirmation of that rumor, but we can’t help you there. Yet.
Lynch and Dern have worked together plenty of times, from Wild at Heart to Inland Empire to Twin Peaks: The Return, so it wouldn’t be odd for her to show up in a new Lynch project. It’s happening again. (Probably.) (Hopefully.)
