Kanye’s New Album ‘Donda 2’ Will Drop in February

You can call Kanye West many things but you cannot accuse him of being lazy. Almost 20 years after he first exploded on the music scene, the guy is still churning out projects like he’s new to the business. Next up: Donda 2, his sequel to last year’s loooooong gestating project. This one will release on February 22(!) and is being executive produced by Future(!!).

The sequel has been teased for the last few weeks, but few expected it to drop quite this soon, given Ye’s busy schedule. He co-headlined Amazon-sponsored Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert with Drake, got announced as one of Coachella’s headliners and has been all over the tabloids with his new girlfriend, Uncut Gems’ Julia Fox.

He’s also been processing a lot lately. Donda was a deeply personal reflection of West’s late mother, whose passing clearly took an enormous emotional toll. He rebuilt his childhood home on Chicago’s Soldier Field as part of the Donda listening tour and his career-long interest in spirituality took center stage for Jesus Is King. Whether Donda 2 will keep this new direction alive or not remains to be seen, but you will see it. Perhaps not artist of this generation has been more impossible to ignore.
