Maverick City Music’s Tiny Desk Is Exactly We Needed to Hear This Week

NPR’s infamous Tiny Desk studio is finally back in operation after two years, and this week they were joined by one of the largest worship bands in the world.

30 Maverick City Music members centered around the small desk for a powerful worship performance. The worship collective sang four songs from their latest album, Kingdom Book One, which was produced in collaboration with Gospel artist Kirk Franklin. You can listen to them sing “Man oof Your Word,” “Million Little Miracles,” “Jireh” and “Kingdom” here.

Maverick City described themselves as “a megaphone for a community of creatives that has been pushed to the margins of the industry of church music.” The worship collective has taken over the Christian and Gospel charts over the last few years. Earlier this year, they performed on the biggest stage in the world at the Grammys, but it was a nice change to see them crowded around a smaller stage.
