The ultimate sad-girl singer-songwriter was recently spotted working at a Waffle House in Alabama. That’s right: Lana Del Rey is picking up shifts at one of the most chaotic restaurants in the business.

The 38-year-old singer appears to be taking a break from the limelight, switching her glamorous outfits out for a blue uniform and a cheerful yellow name badge. From pouring coffee to taking orders to cleaning up after messy customers, it looks like Del Rey is working hard for Waffle House Employee of the Month.

And she’s not hiding from it. According to patrons, Del Rey, looked quite at home behind the counter, engaged in friendly conversations and posed for snapshots with fans.

But there’s one question on everyone’s mind: why? Just last month, Del Rey headlined a major London festival with over 60,000 patrons. So why would she be taking orders at an Alabama Waffle House?
