A Woman Submitted Her Edible Resume to Nike on a Cake

Sometimes you have to take a big risk to get a big reward, which is what one woman was aiming for when she submitted her resume to Nike on a cake.

Karly Pavlinac Blackburn shared her, um, innovative idea on LinkedIn. In her post, she shared her inspiration, intention and, thankfully, an image of the edible resume.

“A couple of weeks ago I sent my resume on a cake to Nike. Yes, an edible resume on top of a cake,” Blackburn wrote. “Nike was having a huge celebration for JDI day (Just Do It day). LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick + Other Megastars were at the event. I had done some research and found a division within Nike called Valiant Labs which is a startup incubator for Nike ideas.”

Blackburn then clarifies that Nike is currently not hiring candidates for any position. However, she wanted the company to simply be aware of her. A former colleague apparently encouraged her to “show up in a creative way” since she wanted to work for the creative company. We cannot imagine an edible resume is what anyone had in mind.

No word yet on if the risk has resulted in the reward, but one thing is for sure: Nike will never forget Blackburn’s application.
