Funko Teams Up With Blockbuster to Help You Relive Your Childhood Friday Nights

In a blast from the past, collectibles manufacturer Funko has teamed up with the late, great Blockbuster for a trip down memory lane. Remember the days of browsing the video rental store, clutching your membership card like it was a golden ticket to cinematic paradise? Well, get ready for a major dose of nostalgia because in July Funko is launching a new line of “retro entertainment” goodies called Rewind, inspired by the iconic Blockbuster design.

The Rewind collection will feature specially designed collectible figures, each packaged in a throwback VHS-style casing. Funko wants to take you back to a time “before Y2K when VHS reigned supreme” – i.e., the good old days. And to make you feel like a true Blockbuster VIP, the figures even come with their very own membership cards.

The Rewind figures will pay tribute to the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s, celebrating the creativity and iconic pop culture of those decades. Funko CEO Brian Mariotti believes this partnership with Blockbuster will help fans embrace their inner ’90s kid and relive the golden age of renting movies.

“Our partnership with Blockbuster, one of the most well-known retail chains in entertainment, will provide our fans with the opportunity to be on the precipice of vintage pop culture and entertainment,” Mariotti said. “Steeped in nostalgia, Rewind expertly showcases the breadth of our licensing pedigree, providing consumers with a new way to access and embrace the pop culture titans that defined a generation in a way that is unique to Funko.”

To kick things off, Funko is embarking on a cross-country extravaganza called Fun on the Run. Starting in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 7 and ending in sunny San Diego for the renowned San Diego Comic-Con on July 19, Funko’s branded bus will make stops at ten different locations. It’s like a mobile time capsule filled with nostalgia and exclusive Funko products for die-hard fans.

So mark your calendars for July for a chance to relive the Blockbuster era and cherish those magical movie moments like it’s 1999.
