Study: Most Americans Believe News Organizations Intentionally Mislead

A recent survey about the news media found that half of Americans believe national news organizations intentionally aim to mislead, misinform or persuade the public to adopt a particular point of view through their reporting.

The results of this survey go beyond previous studies that have shown a low level of trust in the media to the point where many believe there is an intent to deceive. This indicates there is a deeply rooted distrust of news, and not enough is being done to address it.

The study also found that Americans do not believe national news organizations care about the overall impact of their reporting on society.

On a positive note, the survey found Americans had more trust in local news than national news. So at least there’s that.
