Bond is back, and we’ve got a real trailer for Cary Fukunaga’s first foray into the 007-verse with No Time to Die, which will bring Daniel Craig back to the role (one last time, supposedly) reuniting with Spectre‘s Léa Seydoux, and also bring Captain Marvel‘s Lashana Lynch and Knives Out‘s Ana de Armas along for the ride. And they’ll face off against Rami Malek’s villainous Safin, and encounter plenty of car-flipping, motorcycle-jumping, fancy formalwear and amphibious fighter jets along the way.
So what exactly does Safin want? It’s unclear. Someone says revenge, but they also point out that millions will die, so clearly we’ve got a layered scheme here. And, in keeping with Craig’s time as the Queen’s booziest secret agent, it looks like No Time to Die will be more connected to the plots of his previous entries than the episodic Bond movies of old.
And maybe the most thrilling plot point? “In theaters in November.” No Time to Die was one of the first movies to scuttle its release date ahead of the coronavirus pandemic — a pandemic that is still very much going on and shows few signs of abating in the coming months. Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has proved that a blockbuster can still make money in the COVID-19 era but with theaters half full and a potentially lethal disease on the loose, it’ll be interesting to see just how well Bond fares against his greatest foe yet: one who can be neither shot nor seduced out of the way.
